back to 2008. 2009 - 2012 September 30, 2011: A New Page here and a new page in life. Maybe the fairly significant period of time that has gone by since my last entry will make for a new page or even entirely new chapter in my life; yours too if that is what you want. So much has happened in the last couple of years in Khukhan, Thailand and my life, I will just ask you to fill it in with your imagination. No matter all the changes, set backs and bad experiences, Thailand and her people are still a place that I love. The Isaan region of Thailand is my favorite July 26 I recently returned from a trip to Cambodia. I found it to be similar to Thailand 25 years ago -- I mean that in a good way. It is an awesome place and I think anyone interested in Thailand should visit there. August 4: Cambodia Did you love Thailand 25 years ago? Do you miss it? Do you wish the Thailand from the past was still here? Well, it is. It's just acrosss the border in Cambodia. December 15: Life Is your life being adversely impacted by the worldwide bad economy and unfortunate political situation? Do you sometimes think about moving to another place? Is Thailand that place? The answer is not simple and I won't address it in any depth at all. I will say this, a lot of things I read on the internet about it being an excellent choice are misleading. It is a good place, but not super. A very brief list of things you need to look into are visas, language, health care, property ownership and infastructure. Don't be mislead into believing that Thailand is a paradise. It isn't. December 19: Happy Happy Happy Holidays to everyone. I am celebrating 19 years of living in Thailand. In spite of the challenges, I have never regreted moving here. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas or whatever it might be that you celebrate. Lots of luck in the New Year. January 21, 2012 Are you torn about whether to visit Thailand or the Philippines? Or perhaps which country to call your new home? As far as visiting goes, I would suggest that before you decide to make the big move, you visit both; preferably for a long period of time. I do not know what it is like to live in the Philippines, but I do know quite a bit about the country. I love it. There are, however, significant differences from Thailand. Some of those are good and some bad. I love Thailand and have never regreted my decision to move here. Sometimes, however, I wonder whether I might have been better off to move to the Philippines. I don't know the answer. You might want to give both serious consideration. |
