Writing Check List for Students

CHECK LIST FOR REPORTS AND ARTICLES

Cover

___1. There are no spelling errors in the title.

___2. There are no grammatical errors in the title.

___3. The title does NOT have quotations marks around it.

___4. The title is informative.

___5. The teacher's name is spelled correctly.

___6. All necessary personal information (Name, ID number, group number, other identification as necessary, is on the cover.

Format

___7. The fonts in the paper are the correct size and style (12 point Times New  Roman, for example) for an academic paper

___8. The margins are reasonable.

___9. The paper is double-spaced.

___10. Headings and subheadings are correct.

___11. All illustrations have captions or some form of identification.

___12. All illustrations borrowed from others are properly documented in a note and in the bibliography.

Additional Things To Check

___13. There are NO spaces before periods, commas, question marks, exclamation marks, colons, semi-colons, close parentheses or close quotations.

___14. There is a space before OPEN parentheses and OPEN quotations.

___15. Hyphens and dashes are done correctly.

___16. Translated material is documented correctly.

___17. Copied material is documented correctly.

___18. "Baht" is spelled correctly.

___19. S's have been checked.

___20. Articles have been checked.

___21. The pages are numbered.

___22. There is an index if needed.

___23. There is an appendix if needed.

___24. The overall look of the paper is professional and academic as opposed to cute.

___25. The paper is bound if necessary.

___26. The paper has a stiff cover if necessary. (No perfumed paper please.)

___27. The paper has been checked for "Thailish" -- English words/Thai sentence structure.

___28. "Dictionary errors" have been checked.

___29. There is NOT an apology for "any error" in the introduction.
